Digitalization of Justice: projects with the Federal Ministry of Justice enter the next phase
The Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJ) has commissioned us to research, develop and test a digital legal application office and an online civil court procedure. The aim of both projects is to leverage the potential of digitalization in the context of the justice system. The focus is on the needs of citizens and those working in the justice system. On the one hand, citizens are to be given simplified access to the law and justice with the help of digital solutions. On the other hand, modernization projects are intended to help reduce the workload of those working in the justice system. Both projects are part of strategic political plans: the recently presented digital strategy and the “Pact for the Digital Rule of Law” proposed by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
The creation of a digital legal application office is intended to provide citizens with legal problems with an uncomplicated digital point of contact. It should have the potential to support and empower citizens and relieve the burden on the judiciary.
Citizens should be able to assert their claims in a user-friendly, low-threshold and speedy digital court procedure via online civil court proceedings in the area of low amounts in dispute.
