Your Mission

Do you want to do more than just code but still be hands-on? As a People Lead Software Engineering, you will be responsible for the development and operation of software in one of our projects following the "You build it, you run it" principle. We emphasize Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Deployment, following the DevSecOps approach. Check out our blog article for more information on software development at DigitalService.

  • Work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary project team where you not only develop software but also actively operate it.
  • Define milestones for each iteration in close collaboration with the team and take responsibility for achieving them.
  • Focus on writing high-quality code using technologies such as Java, Spring, Typescript/Javascript, or React/Vue, depending on the project.
  • Support and foster the development of other team members: take on disciplinary leadership responsibilities by mentoring, coaching, and guiding the career development of up to 4 engineers, who may not necessarily be in your team.
  • Collaborate closely with the product team to ensure that the software meets all security and privacy requirements.

Your Profile

  • You bring comprehensive experience in software development and operating complex systems.
  • You are comfortable in both backend and frontend development and proficient in technologies such as Java, Spring, Typescript/Javascript, React/Vue, and are eager to continuously learn.
  • You have gained initial experience in mentoring or coaching and aspire to take on disciplinary leadership responsibilities.
  • You are comfortable with Infrastructure as Code.
  • You prefer working in agile teams and value constructive discussions and regular feedback.
  • You are results-oriented and bring strong intrinsic motivation to improve digital aspects of administration.
  • In communication, both in German and English, you are at least at a B2 level and feel comfortable speaking both languages.

Recruiting Process & Contact Person

Our Recruitment Process:

Upon receipt of your application, you will receive an invitation for an initial meeting (screening call) with your TA partner within approximately 2 weeks, or a rejection.

After a successful screening call, there will be two to three interviews with DigitalService employees. Initially, the focus will be on your professional qualifications, followed by discussions on values and expectations regarding the team and collaboration. We will provide you with feedback after the interviews and will promptly notify you with the final decision after the last conversation. Your contact person will be available for questions, feedback, and exchange throughout the entire process.
