How good collaboration works: insight into DIN SPEC 66336

In an increasingly digital world, citizens and businesses expect public administrations to offer digital services that are just as easy, intuitive, and efficient to use as online shopping or streaming platforms. However, while these expectations have long been met in the private sector, the reality of many public administration services often falls short. Complex, difficult-to-access forms and lengthy processes remain a daily challenge in many public authorities.

At the same time, public administrations face significant challenges: a lack of time, expertise, or a clear framework typically hinders the development of effective digital solutions that truly meet users' needs.

How can this be addressed? One answer lies in DIN SPEC 66336, “Quality Requirements for Online Services and Portals of Public Administration (Servicestandard).” In this standard, public administration and industry have jointly defined requirements to ensure a consistently high level of quality for digital administrative services. The goal is not only to ease the burden on public administration in the long term, but also to significantly enhance the user experience for citizens.
