Senior DevOps Engineer (all genders)

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and building platform services that empower project teams to develop scalable and reliable cloud-native applications, ensuring their reliability. You will also cultivate and share expertise in areas such as cloud engineering, SRE, and DevOps across the platform and project teams, and the wider organization. What You'll Do

  • Build and Optimize Platform Infrastructure: Design, implement and optimize infrastructure-as-code setups (Terraform, ArgoCD, Kustomize, Helm) to streamline developer workflows and ensure high performance of our clusters.
  • Ensure Service Reliability & SRE Implementation: Implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to proactively maintain service reliability. This includes creating technical documentation with best practices and providing expert support to teams facing technical challenges.
  • Develop Tools & Enhance Platform Interaction: Build tools to streamline platform interaction for developers.
  • Lead and Develop Engineers: Mentor, coach, and provide career guidance to up to four engineers. Get a glimpse into the People Lead experience from one of our own engineers.

What You're Equipped With

  • Core Infrastructure & Containerization: Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies including Docker, Helm, Kustomize, Terraform and Kubernetes.
  • Programming & System Skills: Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java). Strong understanding of Linux system administration and fundamental networking principles.
  • DevOps & Cloud Expertise: Well-versed in DevSecOps, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code best practices and CI/CD tools. Extensive experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), ideally including migration projects.
  • Problem-Solving & Collaboration: A solution-oriented mindset, strong teamwork and a commitment to continuous learning. You thrive in agile environments, value constructive discussions and feedback and quickly adapt to new technologies, choosing the right tools for the task.
  • Motivation for Public Service: You're excited about the idea of digitalizing public administration and are comfortable working in English (German is a plus).

  • Our compensation system is based on comparability, reliability, and fairness. The salary range for this position is between 73.500 - 84.000 euros gross per year (full-time).
